According to WWF, Hong Kong has the 3rd highest in carbon footprints in Asia, people’ day-to-day spending habits consist of 76% of the carbon footprints. Food is a huge part of it, consisting over 21%. Studies show 34% of the solid waste ended up in the landfills are food waste!
We should be implementing a change in eating and lifestyle, such as more veggies, less meat, reduce food waste, and how to effectively utilize food waste.
Since the beginning of Food For Good to the end of 2021, our recycling center has collected a total of 1,700 tonnes of food waste.
We have now partnered up with 15 organizations/hotels, 6 exhibition to allow us to collect their food waste, non-edible food waste will be sent to O·PARK1 for processing, converting food waste to renewable energy or compost.
